akc standard poodles

We are a home-based breeder, breeding healthy pups for love and companionship. We have done our due diligence to produce excellent quality, healthy, intelligent, trainable puppies, with great temperaments; making sure both parents have been health tested and have OFA or PennHIP certifications and been genetic tested for inheritable diseases. Our breeding dogs have received OFA/CHIC (Canine Health Information Center)certifications or are in process of receiving certification.

Additionally we spend a great deal of time handling and socializing our puppies. We do our best to bring you a healthy puppy that fits your lifestyle.

about standard poodles

Often recognized by the traditional poodle clip, poodles are intelligent and athletic dogs. Originally bred for hunting, poodles are active and prefer exercise, whether that takes the form of running, playing, swimming, agility, or playing fetch. Poodles are friendly, toward both adults and children, as well as other dogs, and have a lower prey drive than other hunting breeds.

Poodles are highly intelligent and eager to please their humans. This means they can be easily trained.  They are often trained as  service dogs. Both Phoenix and Jade are trained in Agility and Obedience. Jade has her Canine Good Citizen Advanced, and Phoenix has titles in A.K.C. Agility. Both have multitude of Canine Performance Events (CPE) titles in Agility and are now also competing in USDAA as well.

One of our standard poodle pups, Padamay, completed training as a service dog at Canine Partners for Life. We placed 2 other prospects in Jan 2023 with Canine Partners for Life, and another in September 2023 with Freedom Guide Dogs.

We are extremely proud of our Service Pups and the important work they do.

Poodles have hair rather than fur, which makes them the ideal pet for someone with allergies, (depending on severity of allergy). While this means they will not shed, poodles do require regular grooming. Our poodles are groomed every eight (8) weeks with their coats are left slightly longer in the winter months.

If the traditional standard clip is not your thing, there are many other clips for poodles, that are easier to maintain.

We do offer an option to “doodle your poodle.” The tail is left long and the owner can opt to have their groomer do a “doodle clip” not shaving the muzzle, feet and base of tail.  We always need to know with in a day or two of birth, so this is pretty much only available to someone on a wait-list.

Many breeds are being crossed with the Standard Poodle to create the hybrids we are seeing.  We feel this is because of the many excellent qualities of the Standard Poodle. A case can be made that it may be even more advantageous to purchase a purebred A.K.C. registered standard poodle.

Sully is a wonderful addition to our family. He is the neighborhood social butterfly, loves to play and gives awesome hugs. He’s a lovey. Thanks Nancy!

About a year and a half ago, we picked up our baby Leo Francis Lion. Leo has been a joy since we brought him home. Leo loves to go for car rides, but my husband or I have to hold his paw as we drive. Leo loves to hold hands. Leo loves people, kids, other dogs and also is loved by all. Leo is very smart however on occasion he pulls the stubborn card. I think he is testing me. Leo was very easy to house train, maybe one or two accidents when he first came to live with us. Leo loves to go camping, rides in our MG sports car. He is by far, the best dog we have ever had. I can’t say enough good things about Leo’s temperament. He is so good. We were so lucky to meet Nancy and Sundae and their family. I can’t thank them enough for our Leo.
